Palos Verdes   Testing the Charity Ride Run

Today we ran the first of possibly several test rides to map our clubs first charity ride.  We were hoping to find a route that would be a reasonable ride to get escorted. However, due to all the stop signals and turns, we will have to rethink.  Still the ride was a beautiful one. We started by riding up the 405 till we passed the peninsula, and then we headed south along the coast. Some off the most expensive homes in Southern California are here as well as some of the best ocean scenery.  We stopped at Walkers Café across the street from Cabrillo State Park for a rest and a cool drink before heading past Fort MacAurthur and stopping to take a look at the tug that Nitro uses for his pleasure rides during the workweek.  We then went over the bridges past the docs and through Long Beach, Belmont Shore and Naples.  Then we headed toward the Los Alamitos Air Base. We stopped for a late lunch at Katella Deli-Restaurant, but went to The Island Grill instead so we didn’t have to wait. We had a nice lunch and good conversation before splitting up with the basic understanding that we will have to try again.  Till next time……
