Santa Paula Ride
January 19, 2003
We
were starting the ride this morning at Norms for breakfast. As Karen and I left
our house, it was sunny and looked like it was going to be great weather. By
the time we turned onto the 91 westbound from the 5, the fog go so thick we
could see a quarter mile if we were lucky. By the time we got to Norms, our
nice clean bikes were dripping with mist and had to be wiped down before we
could eat. We met Nitro and Gimpy for breakfast and Gray and Lowrider showed up
for the ride to meet the Santa Clarita Chapter. After introductions and
catching up on the local gossip, 17 of us headed toward Santa Paula. A brief
stop for gas and we headed north to Ojai. We lost 4 riders here that had to be
back a little earlier, but 13 of us headed on to Santa Barbara for a somewhat
unusual meal at a place called The Brew House. I can’t say the service was the
greatest, but the food was good and the place was biker friendly. After lunch
we headed south to Ventura for another fill up and bathroom break. We said our
goodbyes to the Santa Clarita chapter members and split up as we headed south
and they went east. We cruised down along the coast for a rather brisk but
beautiful ride along the beach stopping for a short coffee break and warm up in
Malibu. From here we headed south again
as we split off and went on our separate ways home. It was another great sunny
riding day in Southern California. If
only all places could be like this.
See you on the byways…….
