We ate at the hotel and got out by 7:30 even though we had a little computer difficulty. Because we got an early start, we were able to make a quick jaunt over to Owensboro were we visited Whitakers. This is supposed to be the premiere shop in Kentucky, so at least we can say we were there. We then crossed over the river and into Indiana, had some lunch and headed toward Illinois. We turned at a sign pointing to Mt. Vernon, our next stop. The problem is that there were 2 of them and we were 7 miles the wrong way before I realized we were going the wrong direction. We stopped for gas, then turned around and went on into Mt. Vernon. We stopped in town for a cold drink as were over heated, but the place we stopped was an expensive Italian Restaurant and it cost $7 for 3 iced teas. We talked and decided that we had visited enough states, and that we would stay here and take our time heading more directly home from here. So if you are in Missouri, then perhaps we'll see you on the byways..............
