Whitefish Montana
We made it from Anaheim,
Ca. to Whitefish Montana in just over 26 hours, so needless to say we were
exhausted. I did manage to make to my friends barbeque last night just about
the time it was breaking up. I had time enough to say hello and let him know we
had made it. Today we slept in after a
very long day getting up here. After a late breakfast, we rode up to Canada,
just to say we did. We stopped for pictures in front of the Canada
/ USA sign, then realized we could not turn around without going into Canada.
We found the Canadians very friendly. They ask if we were carrying any hand
guns or had ever been arrested, then let us in. We made a U-turn and had to
wait for the American side to let us back in. This is where we got the hassle.
The girl that stopped me wanted to know why I didn’t have any paperwork proving
citizenship. When I told her that we had no intention of crossing the line and
had just done a U-turn right in front of her, she took my drivers license, then
ask me where I was born, then looked at my license and ask when I was born.
Then she scolded me again al let me through. We crossed the road and stopped at
the Last/First stop bar & grill for a quick bite, then back in time for the
wedding. Although I took very few pictures on the way up here, I got some great
ones here and on the ride up to Canada.
At the wedding I also got some beautiful shots. This is one of the most
breathtaking places I have ever seen. For an outdoor wedding, it couldn’t have
been beat. When I think of the two people that got married here today, I don’t
think I could have come up with a better place. It was a fantastic event that I
won’t soon forget. I wish them all the best. Then after taking dozens of
pictures around the wedding and surrounding area, while taking a shot of the
married couple sitting in front of a waterfall, I did the unthinkable. I
dropped my camera in the lake. Yes, the digital camera with a memory chip that
holds 997 pictures and about 300 currently on that chip that not been unloaded.
Talk about sick, there was nothing I could do.
The camera can be replaced, but pictures are memories that can never be
recovered. To those of you looking for them, I apologize. A lesson hard
learned. Anyway it was a beautiful wedding in a beautiful place between two of
the most beautiful people I know. Well
we can only hope that tomorrow will bring better results. Till then, I’ll see you on the byways…
