Day 32 – July 29, 2003

Relaxing with Friends

We got up this morning and packed our things and loaded the bikes with the intention of having breakfast with our friends and then heading out. Or friends were at their shop early, so we dropped by to see them there. One of their daughters was there, and the other was going to come by, so we sat around and chewed the fat while we reminisced about the good old days and the different trips we had taken that crossed each others paths. One thing led to another and the girls got hungry before I even realized it was time for lunch. We went to a local restaurant where their other daughter finally caught up with us, and by the time we had finished lunch, it was raining.  We headed back to their shop to get our bikes out of the rain, and by the time the rain stopped it was too late to ride. We decided to stay with them for the evening and head out in the morning. Of course we talked till after midnight and even when we got up the next morning; we couldn’t seem to break free to head out. I finally just loaded the bikes and said we’ve got to go. It is difficult to leave good friends that you don’t see very often, even when you know you should. We had a great time and great memories, but back to reality. We will have to take the main roads most of the way back to California, but I still hope to see you on the byways…
