Day
3 Closing Meeting - Hanging Out
We slept in
this morning sort of because we were not heading back like some of our fellow
riders. We all met for breakfast but it
wasn’t for a meeting about the club so much as just a time to say good-bye till
the next time. One rider had to leave early and had already left. Some came
already packed to leave right after eating. And some of us still had time, but
as usual we all stayed too long cause it is just hard to leave friends knowing
it may be a while till you see them again.
After breakfast
we went back to the room and connected to the internet and covered some of the
fine points of our web sites with Dave and Jack. Then we decided to go back
down to BrickTown to take a closer look. We found
there was a Jaz Festival going on, but not till
later. We came across a Desert Storm Walk of Honor that the Merchants had erected
and engraved a brick for each fallen soldier. Then we walked down to the cannel
and checked out boat ride, the stores and restaurants. We decided to eat at an
outside place so the we could keep Diamond close, but
found that not only did they not allow “animals” in the restaurant, even
outside, but they do not allow them in the entire cannel area. The proprietor however,
was a little more understanding and let us have table in the corner and we
ordered drinks. We were a little concerned that they might get in trouble if
the “Cannel Police” showed up, and the price list cinched the deal. We decided
to locate another place to have lunch. We headed back toward the hotel and
stopped at the always friendly Sonic. A place where they
allow us to eat and still have the company of the Diamond. After we were
once again well fed, we went our own directions and Karen and Diamond went back
for a little nap, while I went to get some shopping done for Karen’s Birthday
on the following day. Although the story is short, the time spent with good
friends seems all too few and we have learned to take as much as we can. For
now it is time to hit the sack because have an early
departure time in the morning and I hope I see you on the byways…….
